Live Oak Resource Center

Live Oak Resource Center

Ifland Engineers, Inc. provided preliminary and construction design services for this unique facility that provides human-resource service coordination for the local community. The plans for this project were approved for a two-story 6,000 square-foot building with offices, meeting rooms, outdoor use areas, landscaping and parking areas. The design was prepared with consideration of aesthetics, long-term durability, sustainability and affordability. Ifland designed the project to have many “green” features with respect to stormwater management. Permeable pavement with subgrade rock reservoirs provides first flush treatment of stormwater runoff as well as providing groundwater recharge. The reservoirs also serve as detention facilities for larger storms, which combined with a treatment structure filters the stormwater prior to discharge from the site to the public drainage system. The project achieved LEED Platinum Certification, the first in Santa Cruz County, and 10,000th LEED certified building in the U.S.
